  1. Hi Annissa, I see you have the Nettleton and Holgate families in your tree as well. I also have the Ambler and Wood families as well. I don't know how much further you may have got with your tree since you posted this but I can tell you that the Nettleton and Holgate lines don't stop with the ones you have there :) Apart from Elizabeth Holgate's family on her father's side going back at least another 4 generations, her mother's side is very extensive...her mother was a Champernowne (Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Champernowne and granddaughter of Hugh Champernowne and Alice (nee Bois). The Holgates and the Champernownes were connected because of the prominence of both families, especially within the church...the Holgates had some property in Devon and used to go there on church business. Elizabeth's brother, Robert, was the Archbishop of York. Elizabeth was born in 1485, in Northowram. Her husband, John, as far as I can ascertain, was about 5 or so years older than Elizabeth. His father was Thomas (born 1455), but I haven't been able to go further with him. Although the Nettletons were also fairly prominent in the area, the records for them go a bit vague before Thomas, as far as I can tell. There's gaps in the generations before him along some lines, so it's hard to trace. The only other thing I know about John is his mother's name was Rebecca, but I have no details on her.
